Archiviato lo US Open, è finalmente arrivato il momento della Coppa Davis 2022. Dal 13 al 18 settembre, infatti, andrà in scena la fase a gironi della prestigiosa manifestazione a squadre. In campo anche la selezione azzurra capitanata da Pippo Volandri, con Jannik Sinner, Matteo Berrettini, Lorenzo Musetti, Fabio Fognini e Simone Bolelli che tenteranno di avvicinarsi a quella cosiddetta “insalatiera” che l’Italia non riesce a far sua da ben 46 anni.
Tutto ciò che c’è da sapere sulla Coppa Davis 2022
I 16 team che parteciperanno alla Coppa Davis sono stati divisi in quattro gironi da quattro. Presenti al torneo: le 12 nazioni che hanno superato le qualificazioni, ovvero Argentina, Australia, Belgio, Francia, Germania, Italia, Kazakistan, Corea del Sud, Olanda, Spagna, Svezia e USA; la Croazia finalista nel 2021; la Serbia semifinalista nel 2021; e le due Wild Card Canada e Gran Bretagna. Come sappiamo, la Russia campione in carica è invece stata bannata da tutte le competizioni internazionali a squadre.
Chi si qualifica? Le prime due classificate di ogni raggruppamento strapperanno il pass per la fase finale, in programma dal 22 al 27 novembre a Malaga, con un tabellone ad eliminazione diretta. Il regolamento prevede che per ogni sfida vengano disputati due singolari e un doppio (al meglio dei tre).
Coppa Davis, il girone dell’Italia
L’Italia è stata sorteggiata nel “Gruppo A” con Argentina, Croazia e Svezia. Tra queste, la compagine più temibile è sicuramente l’Argentina, che può vantare tra le sue fila giocatori del calibro di Diego Schwartzman, Francisco Cerundolo e Sebastian Baez. Occhio, però, anche alla Croazia, orfana di Marin Cilic ma con un Borna Coric in grande spolvero. Soprattutto in ottica doppio, la squadra di Martic ha già dimostrato di poter mettere in difficoltà chiunque. Più agevole, almeno sulla carta, il confronto con gli scandinavi guidati dai fratelli Mikael ed Elias Ymer. Le partite dell’Italia si svolgeranno tutte alla Unipol Arena di Bologna.
