Roger Federer si è fatto vedere nuovamente in pubblico negli ultimi giorni, partecipando ad un evento organizzato da Uniqlo a Tokio, in Giappone. Moltissime le domande dei cronisti presenti, tra le quali alcune sul possibile futuro come allenatore o direttore di una propria accademia di tennis.
Il futuro del re nel tennis
Federer ha appeso definitivamente la racchetta al chiodo alla conclusione dell’ultima Laver Cup di Londra. Da quel momento sono sorte spontanee le domande sul futuro dello svizzero nel mondo del tennis, visto che lui stesso ha ammesso di voler continuare nel tour (ovviamente in vesti differenti da quelle di giocatore).
Durante un evento con il brand sportivo di cui è testimonial (Uniqlo), il maestro ha iniziato a rispondere ad alcune domande relative il proprio futuro, su tutte quelle di diventare allenatore o di guidare una propria accademia di tennis (come, ad esempio, la Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy).
“Sono il prodotto della federazione svizzera di tennis. Per questo motivo mi sentirò sempre legato a loro. È per questo che reputo molto difficile creare la mia accademia. Mi sento come se stessi andando contro di loro, nonostante sia molto vicino.
Sto facendo parte del programma di sviluppo per le prossime generazioni ideato da Uniqlo. L’essere un’ispirazione e un mentore per i bambini è in questo momento la cosa che ho più a cuore. Allenare? Beh, mai dire mai.
Stefan Edberg mi ha detto lo stesso. Non avrebbe mai voluto allenare finché non l’ho chiamato e non gli ho chiesto di venirsi a fare qualche giorno di allenamento con me. Poi ha detto che voleva provarci per un anno. In questo momento, però, ho quattro figli che stanno andando a scuola e voglio dedicarmi a loro e non allenare. Se qualche giovane svizzero dovesse venire fuori e chiedermi di aiutarlo sarei ben felice di farlo”.
