Vasek Pospisil, campione slam di doppio a Wimbledon, in una recente intervista a Match Point Canada, ha dichiarato che Novak Djokovic è l’avversario più difficile da affrontare tra i Big Three. Il canadese ha uno score di 0-6 con il serbo e non ha mai vinto un singolo set negli scontri diretti.

Pospisil e Djokovic, oltre ad aver condiviso diverse volte il campo da gioco, sono molto vicini anche fuori. Insieme hanno fondata la PTPA, l’associazione che si pone come obiettivo di sostituire l’Atp nei prossimi anni (con risultati ancora lontanissimi).
In una recente intervista, il campione di doppio a Wimbledon ha voluto rimarcare quanto sia più difficile affrontare il 21 volte campione slam rispetto a Rafael Nadal e Roger Federer.
“Il più duro da affrontare tra i Big Three è sicuramente Novak, anche se solo si prende in considerazione lo stile di gioco. Nei nostri incontri, per esempio, ha dimostrato di essere il tennista con la migliore risposta di sempre, nonostante il servizio sia uno dei miei colpi più forti. Sai che quando è così è veramente difficile imporre il proprio gioco.
È il peggiore che mi potesse mai capitare in campo per sviluppare al massimo il mio tennis. È incredibilmente bravo a neutralizzare i colpi potenti e trasformarli in scambi lunghi dove ha più possibilità di uscire come vincitore. In tutte le volte che ho giocato con Djokovic ho provato queste sensazioni e per questo lo considero l’avversario più difficile da affrontare.
Al contrario, con Roger ho avuto la chance di essere a soli due punti dal batterlo a Basilea un anno ed ero addirittura avanti di un break nel terzo set. Ovviamente, ha un grande talento, ma qualcosa riuscivi a fare contro di lui. Con Novak, non hai proprio alcuna possibilità di giocartela”.
