I segreti della “veronica”, il gioiello regalato da Panatta al mondo del tennis

Stiamo parlando del famoso gesto tecnico che rese celebre il tennista italiano Adriano Panatta. Oltre a renderlo famoso, suscitò scalpore e stupore nel pubblico. La Veronica è quella volée alta di rovescio giocata con spalle alla rete, con decisione e piegamento del polso, quasi come uno smash.

Il nome le viene assegnato nel 1976 dal grandissimo giornalista sportivo Rino Tommasi,  il quale paragonò il gesto tennistico a quello che il torero esegue prima di uccidere il toro, nella corrida.

Impugnatura

L’impugnatura utilizzata è la “Continental” , con la quale si impattano tutti i colpi al volo.

Scopo

Contrastare il pallonetto “LOB” dell’avversario, cercando di riprendere posizione e controllo del gioco rientrando dalla posizione di contropiede.

Posizione

Solitamente si esegue da metà campo, preceduta da arretramenti per contrastare un pallonetto ben eseguito.

Apertura ed impatto

Il corpo rivolto verso la rete assume una posizione chiusa, con un impatto quasi sempre piatto ed indirizzando la palla lontano dall’avversario.

Esecuzione

L’impatto avviene alto e sopra la testa con la parte posteriore del braccio e successivo piegamento all’indietro del polso.
