Col termine delle Next Gen Finals e degli ultimi tornei del circuito Challenger, la stagione del tennis maschile è ufficialmente conclusa. Data l’assenza di tornei, non vi è nulla da segnalare circa le prime posizioni della classifica. Il primo posto è sempre occupato da Novak Djokovic, il cui bottino ammonta a 11.245 punti. Staccato, ma comunque in scia, c’è Carlos Alcaraz, il quale potrebbe centrare il sorpasso già all’Australian Open, dove avrà tutto da guadagnare a differenza del serbo, chiamato a difendere i 2000 punti conquistati lo scorso gennaio.
Sul gradino più basso del podio c’è invece Daniil Medvedev, seguito dal nostro Jannik Sinner che, come lo spagnolo, potrebbe guadagnare una posizione ben figurando a Melbourne. In questo caso, però, lo scenario è leggermente diverso: il moscovita dovrà difendere solo un terzo turno, l’altoatesino dovrà fare molto meglio rispetto agli ottavi raggiunti nel 2023. Insomma, l’obiettivo non è impossibile ma nemmeno di facile raggiungimento.
Tornando alla classifica, a chiudere la top-5 troviamo Andrey Rublev. Mentre dalla piazza numero 6 alla 10 abbiamo rispettivamente Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, Hubert Hurkacz e Taylor Fritz. Ecco il quadro completo della situazione con tanto di punteggi.

Da Musetti a Berrettini: gli altri azzurri in top-100
Venendo agli altri azzurri in top-100, il primo tra questi è sempre Lorenzo Musetti. Il toscano, nonostante una seconda parte di stagione negativa, chiuderà il 2023 in top-30, alla posizione numero 27, con la speranza di tornare a brillare già nei primi mesi del prossimo anno. Sarà affiancato, oltre che da Simone Tartarini, anche da Corrado Barazzutti e ciò potrebbe dargli una grossa mano in un percorso di maturazione che si sta rivelando più complicato del previsto, soprattutto a livello mentale.
Poi abbiamo la vera sorpresa dell’annata azzurra: Matteo Arnaldi, che chiuderà la stagione alla piazza numero 44. Status che si è conquistato grazie ad un clamoroso exploit fatto di lotte instancabili – vedi in Coppa Davis – e progressi tecnico-tattici straordinari. Il 2024 sarà per il ligure l’anno della conferma, quello solitamente più difficile da affrontare.
A seguire ci sono Lorenzo Sonego e Matteo Berrettini, entrambi protagonisti di un 2023 avaro di soddisfazioni. Il torinese, che non è riuscito a trovare una buona costanza di rendimento, chiuderà la stagione alla posizione numero 46. Il romano, invece, lo farà alla 92, a causa dei problemi fisici che non gli hanno dato tregua. Per entrambi si spera che il prossima sarà un anno decisamente migliore.

Foltissima la truppa di azzurri presenti tra la posizione 101 e la 200. Si parte con Flavio Cobolli (che nelle scorse settimane ha toccato il best ranking alla 95) proprio alla 101, e si prosegue con Fabio Fognini, Luca Nardi, Luciano Darderi, Giulio Zeppieri, Andrea Pellegrino, Andrea Vavassori, Mattia Bellucci, Matteo Gigante, Raul Brancaccio, Stefano Travaglia, Federico Gaio e Marco Cecchinato.
