In una recente intervista con OA Sport, il Barazza ha voluto parlare proprio dei due giovani azzurri, ormai in rampa di lancio per ambire a qualcosa di veramente importante.
“Indubbiamente negli ultimi 3-4 mesi Jannik ha fatto degli step in avanti dal punto di vista della continuità di gioco importanti. Le pause sono inesistenti e io credo che il suo modo di giocare sia assai confortato dal suo servizio. In questo fondamentale è cresciuto molto e l’aumento considerevole delle percentuali di prime in campo lo sta a dimostrare.
Sinner aveva già fatto vedere ottime cose alla battuta, anche se tanti hanno puntato il dito, a mio avviso, ingiustamente. La velocità e la potenza c’erano, ma mancava la precisione e qualche variazione. Devo dire che, soprattutto dalla vittoria in Cina, c’è stato questo cambio di passo e il fatto di ottenere spesso punti ‘facili’, che l’hanno tolto da situazioni difficili, è stato un aspetto fondamentale.
Passaggio di consegne non saprei, ma che Sinner abbia chance di battere Djokovic assolutamente sì. Del resto, non è accaduto solo a Malaga, ma anche a Torino. In sostanza, non è che Nole quando gioca contro Jannik la vittoria se la porti da casa, anche perché quanto accaduto in Spagna è un ko molto pesante per la fiducia del serbo. Sinceramente io nel 2024 vedo più il nostro giocatore che Alcaraz come il rivale vero per Djokovic”.
Il lavoro con Musetti
Chiuso il capitolo Sinner, Barazzutti si è soffermato sul lavoro con Musetti delle prossime settimane.
“Sarò al fianco di Tartarini per 15 settimane e coprirò i tornei in Europa. In questi giorni sono a Montecarlo e lavorerò con Lorenzo e sono convinto che lui possa ambire alla top10. Ho letto di stagione fallimentare per quanto lo riguarda, non sono affatto d’accordo. Ha avuto alti e bassi ed è proprio su questo aspetto che lavoreremo.
Dobbiamo seguire un percorso, da questo punto di vista, simile a quello fatto da Sinner, ovvero trovare costanza nel suo gioco sia dal punto di vista tecnico che da quello mentale, essendo i due ambiti legati. Musetti vale i primi 10 giocatori del mondo e la preparazione sarà orientata proprio a minimizzare quelle pause, che anche per il suo carattere, ha”.
