Carlitos è nato e cresciuto nel mito di Rafa e ha già avuto modo di affrontarlo diverse volte nel circuito maggiore. Finora il bilancio vede avanti Nadal per 2 a 1, grazie ai successi al masters1000 di Madrid nel 2021 (giorno dei 18 anni di Alcaraz) e al masters1000 di Indian Wells (2022). L’unico successo del numero 2 del mondo, invece, al successivo masters1000 di Madrid (2022) in una partita che è ancora negli occhi di molti appassionati per bellezza ed intensità.
Nel 2023 i due non si sono mai affrontati, visti i problemi fisici del 22 volte campione slam e chissà che il 2024 non sia l’anno giusto per rivederli insieme in campo. Rafa tornerà all’Atp250 di Brisbane per testare la propria condizione fisica in vista dell’Australian Open, il primo evento dove potrebbe trovare sulla sua strada Carlitos.
A prescindere da quello che ci riserveranno i tabelloni dei tornei di tutto il mondo, già sappiamo che i due spagnoli si affronteranno il 3 marzo in occasione del The Netflix Slam. Si tratta di una competizione organizzata a Las Vegas dalla compagnia di streaming più famosa al mondo. L’evento si giocherà nella Michelob ULTRA Arena e sarà trasmesso a pagamento (per chi volesse parteciparvi dal vivo i biglietti partono dagli €82) sulla piattaforma rossa a partire dalle ore 21 italiane.
