Ennesimo forfait di Matteo Berrettini, che ha alzato bandiera bianca anche in vista del masters1000 di Madrid. Il romano, sui propri canali social, ha comunicato la decisione e proverà a prepararsi per gli Internazionali d’Italia, il prossimo grande impegno sulla terra battuta europea.

Bisogna ammetterlo: le belle prestazioni al Challenger 175 di Phoenix (finale al rientro nel circuito) e addirittura la vittoria all’Atp250 di Marrakech (primo impegno sulla terra battuta della stagione) ci avevano forse illuso. La sconfitta al primo turno del masters1000 di Miami con Andy Murray in rimonta e la netta debacle al primo turno del masters1000 di Montecarlo con Miomir Kecmanovic, al contrario, ci avevano fatto capire che si era ancora lontani dall’essere competitivi per più di una settimana di competizioni.

Adesso, però, due fulmini a ciel sereno. Berrettini si è ritirato all’Atp250 di Monaco di Baviera la scorsa settimana e, nelle ultime ore, ha alzato bandiera bianca anche per il masters1000 di Madrid.
