L’ItalDavis esordirà giovedì 23 novembre, intorno alle ore 10, al cospetto della temibile Olanda. Gli Orange hanno staccato il pass per le Finals vincendo 2-1 il confronto con la Finlandia e battendo gli Stati Uniti con lo stesso punteggio. Indolore la sconfitta nella sfida conclusiva contro la Croazia, dato che la compagine guidata da Paul Haaruhis si è comunque attestata come la prima classificata del Gruppo D.
La formazione Orange – L’Olanda si è presentata in Spagna con una squadra di tutto rispetto (identica a quella della fase a gironi), formata da Tallon Griekspoor (23 Atp), Botic van de Zandschulp (51), Gijs Brouwer (164), Wesely Koolhof e Matwe Middelkoop. I singolaristi dovrebbero essere i primi due dell’elenco, mentre gli ultimi due i giocatori si presume che siano coloro che comporranno la coppia per il doppio.

Grinta e cuore che si uniscono alla sua naturale predisposizione ad esprimersi al meglio sul cemento indoor.
L’esatto opposto vale per Musetti, il quale, oltre ad attraversare un periodo complicato sotto l’aspetto mentale, sembrerebbe meno a suo agio su tale tipologia di superficie. Vederlo in campo per affrontare van de Zandschulp sarebbe una vera sorpresa. Più facile che sia impiegato in doppio.
Chi invece potrebbe insidiare Sonny come secondo singolarista è Arnaldi, reduce da un 2023 in continua crescita e che lo ha visto attestarsi come terza forza del movimento nostrano. Il ligure ha un gioco che si sposa bene con ogni superficie e ha già dato dimostrazione di essere un grande lottatore, supportato da un resilienza fuori dal comune. Non è da escludere che la scelta di Volandri possa ricadere proprio su di lui.
E il doppio? Per quanto riguarda la coppia azzurra, vi sono ancora meno certezze. La scelta migliore sembrerebbe Bolelli-Sonego, ma in passato il Capitano ha optato anche per Bolelli-Musetti o Bolelli-Arnaldi. Staremo a vedere, sicuramente molto dipenderà anche dall’esito dei due match di singolare.
