Quest’oggi, non prima delle 17, Jannik Sinner sarà impegnato nella semifinale dell’ATP 250 di Sofia contro Filip Krajinovic. Un match che si prospetta molto complicato, nonostante il serbo numero 37 al mondo non sia in uno dei periodi migliori della sua carriera.
Ma in palio per l’azzurro c’è molto di più che l’ultimo atto del torneo. Andare avanti, infatti, significherebbe per lui continuare a sperare nel sogno Finals. Andiamo a vedere nel dettaglio!

La rincorsa di Jannik verso le Finals – Djokovic, Medvedev e Tsitsipas sono già qualificati matematicamente alle ATP Finals. Mentre Zverev, Rublev e Berrettini sono a un passo dal traguardo. Con Nadal fuori dai giochi, dunque, restano ancora da assegnare soltanto due posti. Sono quattro i giocatori a contenderseli. Si tratta di Ruud, Hurkacz, Auger-Aliassime e, appunto, Sinner.
Se l’azzurro dovesse riuscire a bissare il successo in terra bulgara e a spingersi il più avanti possibile a Indian Wells, le sue probabilità di qualificazione crescerebbero a dismisura. Occhi puntati anche sul Masters di Parigi-Bercy, che spesso e volentieri è il torneo che emette la sentenza definitiva.
Intanto, Jannik Sinner, guadagnando la semifinale a Sofia, ha già scavalcato virtualmente Auger-Aliassime nella Race to Turin, la graduatoria che tiene conto dei punti accumulati nel 2021 in vista delle ATP Finals. Adesso ha l’occasione di raggiungere l’ultimo atto della competizione bulgara con la speranza di riuscire a ripetere il trionfo dello scorso anno e fare altri passi avanti nella sua scalata.
Il percorso a Sofia – Sinner ha iniziato il suo torneo soltanto giovedì visto che, in quanto prima testa di serie, ha usufruito di un by al primo turno. All'”esordio” ha battuto Egor Gerasimov, tennista bielorusso molto ostico. Poi, l’azzurro, nella giornata di ieri, ha superato l’australiano Jams Duckworth dopo una grande battaglia. Ora, sul suo percorso, c’è Filip Krajinovic.
Filip Krajinovic, un 2021 sottotono
Filip Krajinovic ha debuttato nel 2021 spingendosi ai sedicesimi degli Australian Open. Poi, dopo due estromissioni precoci a Doha e Dubai (primo e secondo turno), ha collezionato gli ottavi a Montecarlo (battuto da Fognini) e i quarti a Belgrado (battuto da Berrettini). Quindi è iniziato il suo periodo di vera crisi: eliminazione all’esordio a Monaco, così come a Madrid e Roma; secondo turno al Roland Garros e primo turno a Wimbledon. Ad Amburgo, invece, ha raggiunto la sua unica finale stagionale (persa contro Carreno Busta). Quindi è tornato a mettere in fila delusioni: secondo turno a Umag e Kitzbuhel, primo turno a Cincinnati, New York e Nur-Sultan. Un andazzo non proprio all’altezza delle sue potenzialità.
