Prossimo match da brividi per lui: agli ottavi affronterà Stefanos Tsitsipas, che poco fa ha estromesso in scioltezza Mikhail Kukushkin.

La partita
Il parziale d’apertura è stato contrassegnato da una grande battaglia, soprattutto nelle fasi iniziali. Shevchenko è partito leggermente meglio. E infatti, nei primi due game al servizio, Nardi si è trovato a fronteggiare ben sei palle break, riuscendo tuttavia a cavarsela affidandosi alle sue eccellenti doti tecniche.
Dopodiché, tanta lotta ma nessuno strappo, e dunque si è giunti al tiebreak. Qui il pesarese è salito letteralmente in cattedra. Decisivo il mini-break arrivato al settimo punto, che poi gli ha consentito di prendersi la prima frazione per 7-4.
Al rientro in campo, Luca ha continuato a giocare ad un livello altissimo, mostrando la sua grande attitudine alle superfici veloci. Dopo uno scambio di battute tra primo e secondo game, la superiorità dell’azzurro è venuta definitivamente fuori: Alla fine, Nardi, inanellando altri due break (terzo e settimo gioco), ha chiuso la pratica con un netto 6-2. Un bellissimo biglietto da visita per la supersfida agli ottavi contro il numero 6 al mondo.
