Come rispondere alla classica domanda: “Che Corde metto?”

Tutte le corde hanno caratteristiche diverse tra loro ed è per questo che è necessario trovare la sintonia ideale. L’incordatura dipende dal proprio gioco e da sensazioni personali che si hanno all’impatto con la palla. Come per la racchetta, non esiste la corda perfetta, per la potenza, velocità, rotazione e controllo, qualsiasi corda ha “Pro e Contro”, ci si deve adeguare a seconda del proprio gioco. Sono moltissime le case produttrici, quali: Tecnifibre, Head, Babolat, Wilson, Kirschbaum, Yonex, Luxilon e moltissime altre in tutto il mondo. Si dividono in 2 macro-categorie:

  • Budello Naturale
  • Corde Sintetiche (Monofilamento o Multifilamento)

  • BUDELLO NATURALE Budello: E’ formato da diverse centinaia di microfilamenti naturali di strisce di fibre animali, provenienti dall’intestino dei bovini. Corda per eccellenza dei Tennisti “Serve & Volley” e per coloro che amano il gioco piatto. Si utilizzava in passato, oggi con l’avvento del sintetico, viene scelta raramente. La dicitura riconoscitiva è “Natural Gut”, è la corda più costosa sul mercato, ovviamente è di qualità migliore ed anche la più confortevole. Offre prestazioni senza eguali: potenza, controllo, comfort ed anche lo spin con una tenuta di tensione ai massimi livelli, senza dimenticare la salvaguardia  del braccio. Una corda di qualità, che molti professionisti ancora oggi montano sul proprio telaio. Pochi sono gli aspetti negativi, ma non trascurabili, il  budello naturale è molto sensibile all’umidità e agli sbalzi di temperatura, molto costoso rispetto alle corde sintetiche.

  • CORDE SINTETICHE (Monofilamento e Multifilamento)

Monofilamento: Corda rigida e da competizione. E’ formata da un singolo filamento di poliestere, la sua struttura riesce ad offrire grande reattività esaltandone tutte le caratteristiche nelle prime ore di utilizzo. La durata è il suo vantaggio principale. Possono essere di varie forme, rotonde, pentagonali, esagonali, ottagonali e piramidale, ognuna di esse incide in maniera evidente sugli effetti del colpo. Queste caratteristiche fanno del “monofilamento” una corda adatta a tennisti di alto livello, che impattano con potenza ed in “top spin”,  e che rompono con frequenza. Per la sua rigidità non è consigliate a tennisti junior.

Multifilamento: Corda che maggiormente si avvicina per qualità e caratteristiche al budello. E’ formato da centinaia di microfilamenti rivestiti da una guaina protettiva. E’ capace di offrire grande comfort e feeling, abbinati ad una ottima potenza e buona uscita di palla. Il Multifilamento rispetto al Monofilamento, è meno aggressivo nei confronti delle articolazioni del braccio. Non bisogna dimenticare che è formata da fibre sintetiche di conseguenza con un utilizzo di circa 4/5 ore settimanali ne è consigliata la sostituzione. Adatta sia a tennisti che giocano regolarmente che a quelli occasionali.

Ibrido: È l’insieme di due corde montate di diversa caratteristica sullo stesso telaio. La prassi vuole il Monofilamento sulle verticali ed il Budello o il multifilamento sulle orizzontali. Il monofilamento (corda rigida) è quella che dà l’effetto alla palla, mentre il multifilamento o budello (corda morbida) daranno potenza e una sensazione confortevole all’impatto.

Tensione: Più alta è la tensione delle corde migliore sarà il controllo, ma con minor potenza. Più bassa è la tensione delle corde migliore sarà la potenza, ma con maggior controllo. Esempio:

  • Tensione = 26 + Controllo – Potenza
  • Tensione = 23 +Potenza – Controllo

Calibro: Il calibro di un corda è la misura della sua sezione trasversale che varia generalmente  da 1,10mm a 1,40mm. Le misure  “standard” piu’ utilizzate sono 1,25mm e 1,30mm. Uno spessore maggiore è direttamente proporzionale alla durata ed alla resistenza, anche se con minor comfort. Al contrario un calibro di spessore minore avrà durata inferiore, ma maggiore sensibilità al tocco.

Consiglio personale: Non esiste la corda per tutti. Come le racchette, anch’esse hanno variabili che vanno associate ad ogni Tennista in base alle caratteristiche fisiche, movimenti, sensazioni, e tocchi. Bisogna leggere correttamente i dati che ci fornisce la casa madre e cercare di individuare la piu’ adatta al nostro stile di gioco. La scelta della corda dev’ essere abbinata non solo al nostro tipo di gioco, ma anche al telaio su cui si intende montarle. Ai principianti consiglio sempre di affidarsi alle capacità e competenze del Maestro del circolo ed al suo incordatore (qualificato) di fiducia. Mentre per i piu’ esperti la soluzione è quella di provare sino a quando non si ottiene il risultato desiderato. Un grave errore è quello di scegliere in base all’esempio dei Tennisti professionisti oppure in base alla scelta di consigli altrui.
