Stan Wawrinka è stato uno dei protagonisti della stagione 2023. Wawrinka è sicuramente uno dei tennisti più amati del circuito. La sua capacità di vincere ben tre prove dello slam durante il dominio dei Fab4 l’ha consegnato alla storia del nostro sport. A 38 anni suonati non si vuole arrendere e nel 2023 è riuscito a dare filo da torcere a molti vecchi e nuovi protagonisti del mondo Atp. A dimostrazione del suo buono stato, basti pensare al ranking, che lo vede ancora in top50 (numero 49), nonostante abbia dovuto saltare diverse fasi della stagione per problemi fisici. Il momento migliore? Probabilmente la vittoria ad Indian Wells contro Holger Rune con il pubblico delle grandi occasioni sugli spalti californiani.
“Far parte di questa generazione, con i Big3 o Fab4 includendo Andy Murray, mi ha spinto senza dubbio a migliorare. Non ho avuto scelta. Avevo bisogno di spingermi oltre i miei limiti. Sono i tre giocatori che detengono tutti i record della storia del tennis. Quindi, ovviamente è stato molto difficile, ma per me è sempre stato fantastico avere l’opportunità di giocare contro di loro, provare a batterli e ammirarli.
