Camila Giorgi è una brava tennista. E’ stata numero 26 del mondo, ha raggiunto i quarti di finale a Wimbledon, ha vinto due tornei Wta in carriera. Non ha mai raggiunto i livelli di Francesca Schiavone o Flavia Pennetta, ma ormai da anni è una delle migliori giocatrici italiane. Il suo tennis aggressivo, a volte anche ai limiti della sconsideratezza, ne ha però limitato le potenzialità, che comunque rimangono intatte.

Oggi, però, a 29 anni appena compiuti, non possiamo più parlare di una giovane promessa. Camila è cresciuta, ma non è particolarmente maturata. Tennisticamente è molto simile alla sua versione di qualche anno fa, né più né meno. Caratterialmente, in campo, non ha fatto grossi passi avanti. Diciamo che nel circuito Wta non si è fatta molte amiche, per usare un eufemismo.

Ciò che invece è cresciuta molto è la consapevolezza di essere considerata una ragazza molto bella. E il suo profilo Instagram ne è la testimonianza. Le foto postate dalla Giorgi non hanno nulla a che fare con il tennis, ma sono un’ostinata ostentazione delle sue doti fisiche. Un crescendo che l’ha portata, negli ultimi giorni, a trasformare il suo profilo in quello di una sorta di modella di lingerie estremamente sexy e provocatoria, tanto da mandare in visibilio (come dicono quelli che vogliono fare clic) i suoi 300mila follower.

Lungi da noi fare inutili e anacronistici moralismi, ognuno è libero di fare della sua vita (e quindi delle proprie vetrine social) ciò che crede. Però vorremmo usare le parole che ha pronunciato qualche giorno fa Maria Sharapova per parlare dei suoi ultimi mesi sui campi: “Continuavo a farmi notare, ma non per il mio tennis. Allora ho capito che era giusto smettere”.

Ecco, fossimo al posto di Camila Giorgi, cominceremmo a chiederci se il suo obiettivo sia ancora quello di migliorare il suo tennis o se abbia in mente altro. Nulla di male, s’intende…
