Il classe 2001 perugino, reduce dalle ottime prestazioni a Firenze e dal successo al primo turno di quali su Lorenzo Giustino (6-3; 4-6; 6-4), si è guadagnato il tabellone principale del torneo campano superando l’austriaco Filip Misolic per 0-6; 6-3 6-2. Ironia della sorte, Francesco se la vedrà con lo statunitense Mckenzie McDonald, suo giustiziere la scorsa settimana sul cemento toscano.
Niente da fare, invece, per Raul Brancaccio, Giulio Zeppieri e Stefano Napolitano, sconfitti rispettivamente dal cileno Nicolas Jarry, dal cinese Zhizhen Zhang e dal croato Borna Gojo.
Dalla giornata di domani in poi, a meno di ulteriori segnalazioni, gli incontri dovrebbero disputarsi regolarmente sui campi al centro di Napoli. Per quanto riguarda il primo turno, Berrettini e Musetti usufruiranno di un bye in quanto teste di serie del torneo, mentre tutti gli altri azzurri saranno in campo tra martedì e mercoledì.
