Alcaraz è diventato il protagonista della stagione. Con quattro titoli Atp e il primo slam della carriera allo US Open, lo spagnolo è riuscito a diventare numero 1 del mondo grazie alla vittoria in finale contro Casper Ruud.
Al prossimo slam, l’Australian Open, lo spagnolo parte sicuramente con i favori del pronostico (visto la probabile assenza di Novak Djokovic), ma dovrà vedersi le spalle da Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal, Jannik Sinner e Matteo Berrettini.
Tra chi è dubbioso, il commentatore Gross ha voluto esprimere tutte le sue perplessità riguardo le reali possibilità di vittoria.
“Secondo me può vincere ma, in questo momento della sua carriera, mi sembra molto improbabile che possa fare doppietta. Mi sembra storicamente improbabile per lui.

Lui non ha mai perso un match in tre o due set. In ogni partita che ha perso puoi vedere la scarsa percentuale di palle break convertite. Mentalmente, non è uno di quelli che riesce a gestire il match. Se riesce a portare il suo meglio nelle partite in cui conta in Australia, forse può riuscire a vincere. Il problema è vedere se mentalmente riuscirà a fare questo step e superare le proprie difficoltà”.
